The Middlesex  Water Company has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to  replace residential water meters throughout it's service area. The new system being installed will be read automatically by remote or radio transmitters attached to the
new water meter.
 
 
 
 

 

 

 

The Middlesex Water Company 

Approximately 3,000 water meters and reading units will be installed during this program. This project is for maintenance of the meter system. Only select properties are scheduled to be upgraded. Only customers who have been notified by NMS or Middlesex Water should schedule an appointment. 

Start date July 18 2011.

Customer notices will be mailed to all residents announcing the program. Access to homes will be necessary to install the new water meter and reading equipment. All water meters are located inside of the home. The installation process takes about 20 minutes to complete during which water service interruption will occur for 5 to ten minutes. If no one is home during the installation process a notice will be left at the property to call and schedule an appointment. Customers are asked to secure loose pets, if access to the property is required to replace the meter and make sure the meter area is clear of stored items.  

National Metering Services, Inc.  is responsible for the system integration, supply of materials and overall project management.

All National Metering Services, Inc. employees are in uniform and have proper identification. All installers have had background checks completed by the State Police prior to employment.

The new meters offer benefits to both customers and the water utility: 

     a.       No longer generating or receiving estimated bills 

     b.       No longer giving a meter reader access to their home

     c.       Customer’s being billed and paying for exact water usage.

     d.       Increasing the efficiency of meter reading

     e.       Replacing aged meters throughout the system
