City of Apopka, Florida


    City of Apopka, FL has awarded a contract to National Metering Services, Inc. to retrofit and install high tech RF radio transmitter units to existing water meters. The new units will be read by a centralized base station remotely.

This new system will provide accurate meter readings and reduce costs attributed to meter reading and billing. The project start date is set for April 11th, 2007.

The procedure takes about 15 minutes to complete. NMS installers will be working to upgrade meters approximately 1 week after all customers are notified by mail. All meters under this contract must be upgraded without exception. Customers are asked to have any gate or obstruction to the meter open, clear and accessible. Please be sure all pets are secure to ensure the safety of installers and city employees working on the program. If a gate is locked or there is a loose animal on the property, a call back card will be left so an appointment can be scheduled   

Access to the customer’s home is NOT required to install the new RF radio transmitter unit or for any part of this procedure. Water service will not be interrupted by National Metering Services’ technicians.

The new meters offer the convenience and benefits to customers not having to:

City of Corpus Christi, Texas


The City of Corpus Christi Texas has contracted, the team of National Metering Services, Inc., and Northrop Grumman Information Technology, to upgrade its current water and gas meter system to the latest state of the art centralized meter reading system manufactured by Hexagram Inc.

Approximately 150,000 meters (85,000 water & 65,000 gas) will be upgrade and installed over the next 5 years.

Northrop Grumman Information Technology, the Prime contractor is responsible for the system deployment and project administration and will provide the radio transmitters, data collectors, software and system support for the project. National Metering Services, Inc. will install the system hardware, gas and water meters and radio transponders.

Customers in the area of operation will be notified prior to installation services to have fences unlocked and dogs chained or secured away from the meters. Customers not home during the installation of the new meters will be left notices to flush the water lines by running water for a few minutes and to call for restoration of gas service. Gas service will not restored unless access is given to National Metering Services, Inc. employees or to Gas department personnel to relight pilot lights and check for leaks.

National Metering Services, Inc. & Northrop-Grumman IT will be providing the City of Corpus Christi TX with Wi-Fi equipment, project mapping & layout  and  installation services. This is in addition to the 5 year AMR Gas/Water program that the team of National Metering Services, Inc., & Northrop-Grumman will be performing.

Fairhope, AL


The City of Fairhope, Alabama, has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water and gas meters. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to the new water meters and retrofit onto existing gas meters.

The installation project is scheduled to start on June 14, 2007.

The procedure takes about 15 minutes to complete. All meters under this contract must be upgraded without exception. Customers are asked to have any gate or obstruction to the meter open, clear and accessible. Please be sure all pets are secure to ensure the safety of installers and city employees working on the program. If a gate is locked or there is a loose animal on the property, a call back card will be left so an appointment can be scheduled   

Access to the customer’s home is NOT required to install the new RF radio transmitter unit or for any part of this procedure. National Metering Services’ technicians while upgrading or changing your meter will temporarily interrupt water service.

 

The new meters offer benefits to both customers and the water utility not having to:

The Haledon MUA has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to the new water meters.

The meter installation project is scheduled to start on or about on 9/10/07. Customer notices will be mailed to all homes that are scheduled to have the new meters installed. Access to customers homes is necessary to install the new meter system. The installation takes about 20 -45 minutes to complete. Customers are asked to have the area around the water meter clear and accessible for the technician.

The new meters offer benefits to both customers and the water utility:

The MDC of Hartford CT, has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to the new water meters.

The  project is scheduled to start on or about on October 24, 2005. Customer notices will be mailed to all homes that are scheduled to have the new units installed. Access to customers homes is necessary to install the new system. The installation takes about 20 minutes to complete and in most cases, will  not interfere with the water supply to the home. Customers are asked to have the area around the water meter clear and accessible for the technician.

The project will upgrade approximately 90,000 units to the new radio technology over the course of the next 5 years.

The Borough of Highland Park, NJ has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade, test and repair large and commercial meters. New meters being installed will be read by digital remote units. 

Customer notices will be mailed to businesses and commercial properties where meter related problem have been identified or reported.  Access to customer properties is required to install, repair or test the meter system. Customers are asked to have the area around the water meter clear and accessible for the technician.

All commercial customers are responsible for the maintenance, testing, repair or replacement of their meters, including all fees involved with this service. Payment is due at the time services are complete. A free estimate is provided by National Metering Services, Inc. prior to scheduling the appointment for the work.

Meter readers will be equipped with handheld data collection units and will not require access to your home to read the meter once the new unit is installed.  This new system will provide accurate meter readings and reduce costs attributed to meter reading and billing. The project start date is set for February 20, 2007.

Access to the customers home is required to install the new meter and remote. The average installation takes approximately 30-45 minutes.  Customers are asked to have the area around the existing meter  clear from all storage.  NMS installers will be soliciting door to door to replace meters approximately 1 week after all customers are notified by mail. All meters under this contract must be replaced with no exceptions.

New York Water Service (Long Island, New York)


New York Water Service has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to exit test all water meters being replaced. National Metering Services, Inc. is certified by the State of New York Public Service Commission (PSC).  The exit testing program is being performed as mandated by the PSC to ensure the accuracy of the meters being removed and a hardcopy of the test results will be maintained by the PSC. The program will be in place until all meters are replaced/upgraded to the new radio technology currently being utilized by New York Water Service. Approximately 50,000 meters will be replaced and tested during this program. All meter installations will be performed by New York Water Service personnel. Customers will be contacted by NYWS to schedule the replacement.

The data will also be provided to the customer service department to assist in accounting for water lost in the system because of under registering water meters.
