The Borough of Atlantic Highlands, has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to the new water meters. The meter installation project is scheduled to start on April 10, 2006. Customer notices will be mailed to all homes that are scheduled to have the new meters installed. Access to customers homes is necessary to install the new meter system. The installation takes about 20 minutes to complete. Customers are asked to have the area around the water meter clear and accessible for the technician. Meters that are not being replaced will be refitted with new electronic registers and radio transmitters. All National Metering Services, Inc. employees are in uniform and have proper identification. All meter technicians have been registered with the Atlantic Highlands Police Department, will display both company & Atlantic Highlands Municipal ID, and have had background checks performed by the State Police for customer security. All National employees will be in uniform and displaying ID at all times during the project. The new meters offer benefits to both customers and the water utility not having to: a. have customers read their own meter b. generating or receiving estimated bills c. giving a meter reader access to their home d. being billed and paying for exact water usage Meters and Radio units for this project are manufactured by Badger Meter Inc. The Radio product name is ORION. The old water meters will be tested for accuracy at National Metering Services, Inc.'s certified meter testing facility. Test results will be provided to the Water department at the end of the project. The City of Corpus Christi Texas has contracted, the team of National Metering Services, Inc., and Northrop Grumman Information Technology, to upgrade its current water and gas meter system to the latest state of the art centralized meter reading system manufactured by Hexagram Inc. Approximately 150,000 meters (85,000 water & 65,000 gas) will be upgrade and installed over the next 5 years. Northrop Grumman Information Technology, the Prime contractor is responsible for the system deployment and project administration and will provide the radio transmitters, data collectors, software and system support for the project. National Metering Services, Inc. will install the system hardware, gas and water meters and radio transponders. Customers in the area of operation will be notified prior to installation services to have fences unlocked and dogs chained or secured away from the meters. Customers not home during the installation of the new meters will be left notices to flush the water lines by running water for a few minutes and to call for restoration of gas service. Gas service will not restored unless access is given to National Metering Services, Inc. employees or to Gas department personnel to relight pilot lights and check for leaks. The City of Danbury, CT has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The Marion County Board of County Commissioners has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to new water meters. The project will upgrade all residential water meters to the new Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system. The meter installation project will begin in July 2004 and is schedule to be complete in June 2007. Approximately 22,000 customers are served by the county. Meters will be installed as funds become available. Customer notices will be mailed to all homes that are scheduled to have the new meter installed during the first phase. Access to your home or business is not necessary to install the new meter system. Water meters are located outside in meter boxes located on lawns, driveways and curb areas. The installation takes about 25 minutes to complete. Customers who are not home during the replacement process will be left notices stating that their meter has been changed and to run water for a few minutes to flush the lines before using the water. The Water Bureau of Montclair, New Jersey, has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to upgrade its water meter system. The new system being installed will be read by radio transmitters attached to the new water meters. The project will upgrade all residential water meters to the new Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system. The meter installation project will start on or about April 24, 2006. New York Water Service has contracted National Metering Services, Inc. to exit test all water meters being replaced. National Metering Services, Inc. is certified by the State of New York Public Service Commission (PSC). The exit testing program is being performed as mandated by the PSC to ensure the accuracy of the meters being removed and a hardcopy of the test results will be maintained by the PSC. The program will be in place until all meters are replaced/upgraded to the new radio technology currently being utilized by New York Water Service. Approximately 50,000 meters will be replaced and tested during this program. All meter installations will be performed by New York Water Service personnel. National Metering Services, Inc. has partnered with National Meter & Automation of Centennial Colorado. National Meter & Automation is the local distributor of waterworks and meter related products for this project. The City of Orange Township, New Jersey has awarded a contract to National Metering Services, Inc., to provide and install high tech water meters. The new meters will be read by radio frequency. Meter readers will be equipped with handheld radio receivers and data collection units. The system will be read by driving or walking by the customers property. This new system will provide accurate meter readings and reduce costs attributed to meter reading and billing. The anticipated start date for this project is July 15,2004. Meter replacement is mandatory for all customers notified. Approximately 4,200 water meters will be replaced during this project. Access to the customers home is required to install the new meter and remote. The average installation takes approximately 30 minutes. NMS installers will be soliciting door to door to replace meters approximately 1 week after all customers are notified by mail. All meters under this contract must be replaced with no exceptions. Customers are asked to have the area around the existing meter clear from storage. The old water meters will be tested for accuracy at National Metering Services, Inc.'s certified meter testing facility. Test results will be provided to the Water department at the end of the project. Test results are used for comparison of past and current usage, revenue recovery projection and leak detection for system analysis. For more info about certified meter testing - Click here.
