National Metering Services

National Metering Services Inc. is one of contractors selected for this project and will take care of program management, supplying and distribution of metering materials, software setup, training of utility staff, and interfacing the reading software with the district’s Computer Systems. Approximately 100 residential meters will be replaced by NMS for this pilot. National Metering Services will be replacing traditional mechanical water meters with Neptune Technology Group’s most advanced technology, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) meters, which include a digital register, a high-precision flow sensor, and a secure, wireless communication module. Customers in the area of operation will be notified prior to the installation services. Water Meters are located outside of your home in the meter box located at the front of the property or in the property easement. Access to the home is not necessary. Upon receiving an email notification from the District regarding your introduction into the program, customers with commercial accounts can schedule an appointment by calling NMS toll free or by using the E-Appointments feature on our web page. Water service interruption is minimal, and the installation duration is less than 20 minutes.

For the safety and security of our technicians we request all pets be secured by leash or in a secure area away from the meter.

Meter Replacement FAQs

The Gateway Services Community Development District is upgrading to Neptune Technology Group’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to modernize our water system. These new smart meters provide real-time, accurate water usage data, helping us catch leaks faster, eliminate billing guesswork, and improve service for every resident.

In most cases, no. If your meter is located outside and easily accessible, our technician can complete the upgrade without entering your home. If access is needed for any reason, you’ll be contacted ahead of time to schedule a convenient time.

Not at all. The cost of your new Cellular AMI meter is completely covered by Gateway Services CDD. There is no charge to you.

All technicians from National Metering Services will arrive in clearly marked vehicles, wear company uniforms, and carry photo ID badges. If you’d like to confirm their identity, call our office at 1-888-448-0009.

Once your new meter is installed, just run your cold water for 1–2 minutes to flush out any air or temporary discoloration. You’ll receive a door hanger with clear instructions and confirmation of completion.

Absolutely. Cellular AMI meters transmit only water usage data — not your name, address, or billing info. All transmissions are encrypted and fully secure.

Cellular AMI systems include self-diagnostics and alert mechanisms that identify performance issues. Faulty meters are automatically flagged, and our team can schedule a proactive replacement or reconfiguration — often before it impacts billing or service.

National Metering Services is replacing traditional mechanical water meters with Neptune Technology Group’s most advanced technology, AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) meters, which include a digital register, a high-precision flow sensor, and a secure, wireless communication module. These meters automatically send real-time usage data to the utility — no more manual reads, no more uncertainty.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure

The Gateway Services Community Development District (GSCDD) is taking a bold step toward modernizing its infrastructure by implementing Neptune Technology Group’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology across it designated locations for the pilot implementation – residential, commercial/potable and irrigation. This strategic investment replaces outdated, manual-read meters with smart, two-way communication devices capable of transmitting real-time water usage data directly to the utility. It’s a significant upgrade that aligns with GSCDD’s long-term commitment to efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.

The benefits of this transition are wide-reaching. With Cellular AMI, GSCDD can proactively monitor water usage patterns, detect leaks almost immediately, and eliminate the need for estimated billing — reducing revenue loss and operational inefficiencies. Property owners, HOAs, and commercial tenants will benefit from more accurate billing, real-time consumption insights, and improved customer service responsiveness. For municipal leaders, it means streamlined data access, enhanced planning capabilities, and a future-ready infrastructure built to support Gateway’s growth. By embracing the Neptune Cellular AMI, GSCDD is not just keeping up with modern utility standards — it’s setting the bar for smart water management in Florida.

The installation of the Cellular AMI meters is being partly managed for the District by National Metering Services, Inc, (NMS).  National Metering Services, Inc. is a company with over 30 years of experience in underground utility and excavation contracting specializing in multiple meter technologies, system implementation and optimization. NMS will be responsible for the day-to-day management and installation of Neptune water meters on behalf of the District in NMS’s designated pilot area. Installers working on the project will carry proper badge identification and have successfully completed background checks. The installers will not need to enter residential property, nor will they be asking for any form of payment from customers. NMS installers are required to always wear uniforms and display identification badges. Their vehicles are also marked with the company name.
